Announcement

The American Studies Department at Saint Louis University announces its third biennial Visual Culture Conference to be held Friday Oct. 5 and Saturday Oct. 6, 2012. This conference is wholly organized by the department’s graduate students and focuses on the presentation of graduate student work. The Conference Committee encourages students from all disciplines to engage the theme, “Politics of the Eye: Imagery of the American Political Landscape.” The Keynote Speaker for this year’s conference will be Matthew Frye Jacobson, professor of American studies, history, and African American studies at Yale University. The official Call For Paper seeks papers that expand upon a wide variety of visual media, including photography, television, film, art and digital media, to explore critical perspectives in the production, interpretation, and consumption of the American political landscape, past and present.
